PISD Book Study

Chapters 5 & 6

Posted in Uncategorized by on the January 10, 2012

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, January 11th.

Throughout the reading, I have found myself looking more closely at the things I find motivating and applying them to multiple areas of my life:  my personal habits, classroom management, the way I raise my children.  I am discovering that many of the things I do as a matter of course are not necessarily the best practices either for myself or the people I am hoping to motivate.  The question I find myself asking is what is the starting point for change in those areas.  What are your thoughts?

As you prepare  for our discussion, here are some things to ponder:

  • What is the purpose of your school, your classroom, your home?  Have you taken the time to put it into words?  Are you meeting that purpose on a daily basis?
  • Since we are educators, how does this new way of looking at motivation change some of the “traditional” management plans we have in place?  What does “Drive” look like in your classroom?
